New Friends

One of the great things about being a photographer is all the wonderful people I get to meet and work with,

such as this high school senior, and her mom.

I met up with them yesterday for a beautiful morning on the beach.

While we had never met in person, we were instant friends.

During the shoot we talked about graduation and her big plans for the future. She seemed so excited, so ready. Her mom, however, mentioned more than once how it "made her weepy" to think about her little girl graduating and moving on in life.

When we were done we hugged, certain we would see one another again.

I am so glad our paths have crossed.

For my new friends I found this little quote that seemed so appropriate for this time,

"Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined."

A Few More

Last week I posted pictures from a family session with a promise of a few more of the kids.

Because of a few other (exciting) things underway with {TREASURE photography}

it took a few more days than the "few" that I promised, but here they are.

Better late than never, I hope.

I had so much fun with this family and a large part of it was because of the kids. They were so great, so fun, and seriously so easy. I loved talking to these boys and hearing what sort of things they are into. It made me wonder what things my little boy will be into at this age. I think I may have made some new friends.

Isn't his smile so infectious?!

I love it!

I have got to get this little girl on a play date with my daughter.

They are 2 peas in a pod and would get along great. Seriously, this is on my to-do list.

And this baby, oh, this baby.

Look at his eyes! They are so big and so beautiful and so expressive.

He is such a happy baby, and oh so cute!

Sneak Peak

I met with this gorgeous family on Saturday afternoon.

It was a beautiful - warm - sunny - Florida - January afternoon. It was perfect.

(Sorry to all of you buried in snow. Come visit!)

I am just posting a quick preview tonight - we've had too many late nights in this house this week.

So watch for more of this cute family in the coming days, but I didn't want to make them wait any longer.

2010 was such a great year. After my family's big move from Oklahoma to Florida at the end of 2009 I took a long break from shooting . Then I slowly got back into it and completely enjoyed every session.

Seniors 2011

I had the opportunity to go exploring with this High School Senior last week. I love her. She's so fun, intelligent and beautiful. We talked about her plans, her hopes, and her thoughts for her future.

Her future is most definitely bright.

Endless possibilities lie in front of her. Endless adventures await her.

It is up to her what she picks. It is her choice which roads she chooses to walk down.

Being such a level headed girl I know she'll choose nothing but the best.

And I for one, can't wait to see how it all unfolds.

The Journey

It is late tonight, but before I lay my head down I definitely owe this family a preview. So I won't be too wordy. As I edit photos it is typical for a specific word to come into my mind that defines the shoot and the emotion I feel from the pictures. The word that continually popped into my head tonight as I worked was "journey."

This family is embarking on a new part of their journey in life. Soon their youngest will be graduating and leaving the nest. As I looked through these pictures it was hard not to think about where they've been and where they are going.

And in an effort to do as I said and "not be too wordy" - here is the preview to enjoy:

Things to Treasure

In life there are lots of things to treasure.

{Can you guess that treasure is one of my favorite words?}

Family, friends, and memories.

This session represents all of those for me. This is my friend Barbara and her sweet family.

When I moved here a little more than a year ago she was one of the first to reach out to me.

Since then we've become fast friends.

I was glad to be able to photograph her family, and the session couldn't have gone better.

I literally started clapping when I saw this picture.

Its one of those that I think in years to come they will look back at and remember life as it was now.

They will remember the sweet way their daughter talks, the belly laughs their son makes, and the joy they had as a family right now. It will be a memory to be treasured.

They might look at this picture and remember what it was like to see their first child begin to become more independent, or how she grew up all too fast.

This one might remind them what a happy baby their son was.

They'll look at this and remember how they worked together to make it all work.

Shuffling kids, work, date nights, church responsibilities - LIFE.

And how every once in a while it all came together just perfect, even if for just a minute.

And it is those memories they will remember and {TREASURE} forever.

Big Things

This family has big things happening. They are about to make a huge move across the country. It reminds me of the move my family made across the country just last year. They were able to make a quick visit to family here in Florida over Thanksgiving and we squeazed in a photo shoot for them while they were here as well. I have thought of them often in the few days since we met and I hope that all is going smoothly with their big move.

They have three beautiful children that were nothing but joys to work with.

I decided after this shoot that 8 is the best age to photography boys. They might not be thrilled about it, but they do it, and they do it so well. They just handle it so cool.

This next shot I couldn't decide between color and black and white.

Because, in the color there are those eyes!

And in black and white, well, its just striking.

This little guy made me chase for anything I could get, but he was so cute and fun.

There are moments in every shoot, ones you don't plan, they just happen.

I always pray I have my camera ready to go when they do.

This was one.

Tyler and Anna, I can't even begin to tell you how many times I thought in my head, "how sweet" while photographing you two interacting. Your love is obvious and unmistakable, and your friendship is beautiful.

I hope and pray all goes well in the coming weeks and months for your family.

It was a joy to meet and photography you.

And, for what its worth from me to you, it may seem like big things are happening (and they are) but the real big thing is your family. No matter where you go, no matter where you are - when you're a family doing it all together THAT is the biggest, most important, and amazing thing.

This Mommy and Daddy were blessed with two babies at once to love.

And boy, do they ADORE them.

It is obvious in the way they look at them, the way they talk about them, and how they can't go a few minutes without talking about them. Their lives are now wrapped up in these two irresistible cuties, and it is easy to see they wouldn't change a thing.

These pictures make me smile, giggle, and maybe even secretly wish for twins. Maybe. Adorable.

I mean, looking at these two, how could you not want two of your very own?

Life with Children

I don't know who said that quote (above) but isn't it so true? I can't tell you how many times I have thought I was teaching my own children a lesson only to have them teach me something.

These two kids are special to me. Their mom is a good friend of mine and I have learned so much about mothering from her. The way she talks to them, and the way she talks about them - she knows they are gifts from above.

She understands what a treasure they are. She's sees their beauty that goes deep inside.

They are lucky to have her as their Mom.

But she understand that she is the real lucky one.

And their Mom is smart enough to learn the lessons they teach.

Today it was, 2 year olds don't always want to sit for pictures.

So you go with the flow, you step in if you have to and you cherish the memory.

Because, in the end, even those memories are beautiful too.

Dancing in the Streets

Last weekend I took 3 awesome and talented "kids" out into the streets of Winter Park, Florida on a busy Saturday night and we, well THEY, danced in the streets. Imagine being put literally into the middle of a street with many on lookers and told to strike a pose. I know mine wouldn't look this good...

The valet parking attendants who were right next to us got some entertainment on the job for a few minutes as we dashed in and out of the street to avoid cars driving by. The area we were at was perfect because it offered so many different options, so we kept moving from place to place, and they kept giving me more and more great poses.

It was a very busy night in Winter Park with couples and friends out for Saturday night. Many made comments to us as they passed (or even from across the street) which at first I think embarrassed them, but as the night went on we had more and more fun. We stayed far past the last light of the sun, and that's when the fun really began.

I had so much fun on this shoot. I love to watch dance, I'd love to dance myself, but that isn't one of my talents. I'll stay behind the camera.

My favorite thing was when the entire family got in.

The waves were Cuh-razy!

It took the girls a little bit of time to get into it,

One Patient Family

One week ago tonight I had the most fun on the beach with this family.

They are so patient because I am finally putting one picture up.

Family - Extended

As promised here are a few more pictures from our family portrait day during our family reunion. These are the individual family shots we took. Imagaine 32 people in near 100 degree heat all trying to stay looking nice for their moments infront of the camera. Oh, and not to mention keeping the 18 children camera ready until it was their turn. We had to work fast, and much of the park was a muddy mess so we limited ourselves to one small portion of the park. Thankfully I had help, one of my brothers is also a photographer. He set up poses in one place then I'd take the families to the next. While I was with that family he'd set up the next and I'd run back and forth. It was a challenge, and I was exhausted once we were through.

So here are my siblings and their families in birth order...

First my sister Jeri. Even though we're 11 years apart I still have a very close relationship with her.

Her and her husband, Brian, have such a fun family. Each of her kids are so smart, sharp and funny.

Its obvious where they got it from.

Then my brother big Rob. He is someone I feel I can always call if I were in trouble.

(Thankfully I've never had to cash in that call.)

He and Holly have such a great bunch. I wish we were closer so we could be together more often.

And then there is another brother, Jeff.Jeff has always been so much fun. He makes everyone laugh.

And his wife, Robin, feels like she's always been a sister. Maybe its because they started dating when I was 8. Their kids are so great, they have the best of their parents in them.

Next comes my brother Mike. Mike's laugh is infectious. And he has so much energy, and such an intense love for family. He and Meredith have some beautiful kids don't they? And their last 3 are the same age as mine...why can't we live closer so they can play together?

Brother #4 = Steve. Fellow photographer and an all around sweet guy.

He has an equally sweet wife, and those boys...oh they are so cute!

Lastly, I am the baby of the family.

What can I say, I think I have a great hubby and awesome kids...

even if Ethan HAD to have a sucker to stay in the picture.

Forty -three years ago a young couple in love got married. A little over a year later they welcomed a little girl into their family, then came a son, another son, another, and another still. And lastly there was a baby girl. It was a happy family of 8. We played games together, took trips together, worked in the garden together, had the typical sibling arguments and our share of rough times. This is that same family, my family, plus 6 in-laws and 18 grandchildren. We are larger (significantly) but still happy. As any family we still have our share of rough times, but we are there for one another when that happens and we cherish the times, like this one, when we are all in the same location.

There will be more previews to come, but I wanted to share just a few today. I had so much fun being with all my brothers, my sister and their families. I miss them all already, and can't wait to see them again.

I am so grateful for my parents who planned the whole 3 day event. They are so good at being sure that we see one another and maintain strong family ties. And even though they fell in love so many years ago, their love has only grown with time just like their family has.

Best Friends

My husband and I are best friends. We have been for more than 12 years, long before we were married. This weekend we had the opportunity to visit another best friend and witness him marry his best friend.

Dan has been our friend for over 5 years. He spent many nights studying with my husband, and even eating dinner with our family. I am so happy he has found Yang. I am so happy he has found his best friend.

After this weekend, we now have a new friend too. It was so easy to meet her and fall in love with her. She was so inviting, so beautiful and genuine. Now Dan has himself a wife, and he certainly picked a great one.

It was so much fun to be there. Aside from the fact that my husband and I got a much needed break together, I loved seeing the way he looked at her, seeing how she touched his arm when she laughed and seeing how their eyes lingered on each other. The love was obvious, as was their friendship, and I feel friendship is very important to marriage.

To Dan and Yang: May you always be best friends.

Life is Fragile

The kids and I spent an hour outside this morning.

It had rained all last night so we splashed and searched for worms and then went to our old standby - bubbles.

But, I've never seen them look so beautiful.

For some reason the colors in them were so vibrant and fun.

This first picture makes me think of how fragile life is.

The next two were unplanned but a totally fun capture.

In the above picture you'll see left to right. 1. My daughter. 2. Me (Just my head b/c I'm on the ground taking the picture) 3. My son.

And of course we're all still in the last picture.

But this time, the bubble's life is limited.

Baby Love

I was blessed to get to visit a friend today and to hold her sweet precious baby.

She even let me snap a few pictures.

I always enjoy taking pictures, but today, what I enjoyed even more was getting to hold such a precious and fresh newborn. I would love to get a peak inside their minds as they experience life in these early days. And Momma B - if ever you need someone to just come over and hold him. Call me. Even at 4am, I'd love to come back and snuggle with him. Mine move too much now.

A True Beauty

I got a call Saturday morning from this sweet girl wanting to know if I could possibly do a session with her that day. Thankfully I could. We had so much fun! She is such a wonderful girl, and when I found the above quote I thought of her. I hope she reads it and can understand why I want her to hear it.

She is 17, this week. I loved being 17. So much happened for me at 17.

She is at the cusp of life changing events. I hope she always remains true to her heart, and to her beliefs.

She is a true beauty inside and out, and I cannot wait to see what her future holds.

Sunshine and Shivers

This morning I had the best time with 3 of the cutest, and best, little kiddos. When I moved to Florida I never imagined I would have a shoot that required winter coats, but this one most definitely did. Two days ago I was grocery shopping in my shorts, today my heat is on. CRAZY.

These kids were so good though. They hardly complained and they cooperated so well despite the cold. The cold and their awesome cooperation made for a quick session, but it did not, as you will see, disappoint.

I hope you like your preview Mom C. I had a hard time deciding which ones to put on here.

I was exhausted yesterday. I spent most of the day sleeping after spending no time sleeping the night before. When I awoke the kids were in full "play mode." I had missed their church clothes. But I find this picture precious because its real, it wasn't a "say cheese" moment. And what are they looking at you wonder? My neighbor's had a bounce house in their back yard. I think my kids were jealous.

I have made a goal this year. Each Sunday I will take, and share, pictures of my kids. The idea is not originally mine, I got it from another photographer I follow.

The idea is to have a picture of them in their Sunday best and at the end of the year have a pictorial that documents well their growth over the year 2010. This Sunday, as you can see, I didn't get them in their Sunday best...but its still pretty cute.

Lights, Glitter, Color and Shine - 'Tis the Season

I love everything that goes along with Christmas. But I especially love the glow in the house that happens from the day after Thanksgiving until New Year's Day. I like to put lights on everything. In every room, and then at night I like to have no other lights on but our Christmas lights. It just makes everything Christmas-y perfect.

I had taken some pictures of my son last week for my 'Tis the Season idea...it didn't go so well. He moves alot, he's 17 months old! He doesn't take direction well (Did I say he's 17 months old?). I tried to put him in a place where he was stuck, and couldn't move. I choose the dining room table. Yes, I sat him on the table and piled him with ornaments...which he ate. I got some decent shots but something was missing in them.

Today I tried again, minus the table because really if I'm trying to keep him from climbing on the tables in the house I shouldn't put him on one and take pictures of it, right?

This time I tried it in front of the Christmas tree. He wasn't as into the ornaments, but I dressed him in his new Christmas shirt, tie and sweater and just let him be (if you call jumping up and down, throwing ornaments at myself and singing silly Christmas songs just letting him be). These feel much more like Christmas to me and I think it has everything to do with lights, glitter, color and shine.

Oh, and he's pretty cute too!

This next one is the same as the first. I can't decide between the two. I love the colors, but at the same time to me this picture just glows with light. I love it.

Tis the Season - For Wishing

Most of the year I avoid toy aisles and ads. I figure the less my kids see the less they'll want and beg for. At Christmas I throw that all out the window. We peruse toy aisles at every store, we collect ads, even record a few commercials for things we just don't want to forget and make a special trip to a certain toy store before making our lists. Its all part of the fun, and I don't want my kids to miss out on any of it.

'Tis the Season

Magical. That is how my mind remembers Christmas as a child. I hope my kids see it that way too.

My oldest daughter is turning 6 in just 16 short days. With all that has been happening in our family I hadn't really thought of that, until today. 6 years! How on earth have 6 years gone by since my first child was born? It cannot have been that long ago. She cannot be that old.

But she is, and when I think of her birthday all I can think of is my hopes and wishes for her as she continues on in life. To her I want to say...

...may you always stand strong,

...may you never lose the light in your eyes,

...or the smile in your heart,

...may you never run from life's adventures, but embrace them,

...may you always remember to look forward to the future and the goals you're striving to achieve,

...and when you do look back, may what you see always make you smile.

Happy {early} Birthday to the one who first made me a mother. You mean more to me than you will ever know.

A Trade Off

Moved

We made it. We are now in Florida, and I have the palm trees in my yard to prove it. You might notice that I made our move "official" by changing the areas I service (above) from Tulsa and Oklahoma City to Orlando, Florida and surrounding areas. If you know anyone in those areas let them know, I am ready to start putting my camera to good use here.

Until then you will see plenty pictures of my own kids as we explore our new surroundings and look for good picture spots. Today we didn't leave our front yard. Before moving I found a tropical shirt for my little boy in a hand-me-down bag. Its covered in palm trees and hibiscus - so cliche, so touristy - but I don't care, I couldn't resist.

See the chair behind him? My original thought was to have him sit in it next to the small palm tree...but I forgot, he doesn't sit still - for anyone, especially not for Mommy.

Told you there were palm trees in my front yard.

I liked this picture because of the light - we do live in the sunshine state now after all. I am excited to start exploring to find just what this state has to offer. I have big plans for my daughter's upcoming 6th birthday pictures. They include the beach....I can't wait!

Curly Girl

This little cutie has the cutest curls! I cannot get enough of them. Her session was very typical for a 2 year old birthday session - it could be best described as a chase. I LOVE 2 year olds!

I'm in the midst of packing...the truck will be loaded tomorrow and we pull out in just 3 days, but I promised this cutie's Mommy a preview before we pulled out. So here it is!

Oh, and one tidbit about this session, there were several pictures that I took that I knew the moment I took them that they would be favorites. All of these fall into that category.

...told you the curls were amazing.

What a Keeper!

As promised, here are a few more pictures from Saturday's wedding. I've only scratched the surface and haven't even gotten into the ceremony and reception pictures yet, so I'm positive there will be more to see from this event, but that may have to wait until we're in Florida. This picture (above) was the first on I took that day, and I love it. I loved the back of her dress, and I really love long trains.

I love this picture of the groom. He's talking to the bride while I was trying to take pictures of his. I love that he was all serious for his poses with me but the minute she said something he turned and smiled.

In fishing a good fish that you want to take home is referred to as a "keeper." In life I think this couple each found themselves a "keeper." :)

Nothin' But Blue Skies

I was fortunate to get to do one more wedding before leaving Oklahoma. I am in the midst of packing, but I promised the bride a sneak peak during my chaos...so here is the first one (I think there will be at least one more before I go).

Their engagement pictures were rainy, but there was no rain in sight on the day of their wedding. The entire drive to their location I kept thinking what a beautiful day it was.

Then I saw images like this...

and this...

...all I could think of was the song that goes, "Blue skies, smiling at me. Nothing but blue skies, do I see." I'm sure it was on the radio at some point in time (I could look it up I guess), but I remember it from an airlines commercial. Whatever it is from, the skies were beautiful on the afternoon of this couple's wedding - and it is my wish for them, that there be nothing but blue skies in their future together.

I'm still in OKC for a few more weeks, but I've booked my final sessions here and am busy packing up. For those of you in Oklahoma that I've been fortunate enough to meet and photograph - thank you. Reflection

The reflection in the first 3 pictures do just that for me. They make me see how he is discovering himself and the world around him. Its a precious moment and a memory I will treasure forever.

Birthday Girl

I met up with a fun little birthday girl and her sweet Mommy at the park the other day. The birthday girl had no time for my camera, there was too much to explore. That is no problem for me, I love a good chase.

This little one was so much fun to watch and chase. She was so brave! I can't tell you how many times she fell and never once did she shed a tear. She would just pop back up and go bouncing on to the next thing.

This weekend is her birthday and I hope she has a great one because someone this cute and sweet deserves nothing less.

A Rainy Engagement

Saturday I met up with this couple, in the rain. Weather forecasts had been calling for rain all week and it had never come. Of course, it decided to fall on the day of our shoot. But, we did not cancel. As I was driving over I kept wondering if they would even be there. A quick check of the radar showed showers still hit and miss in our area so I was crossing my fingers that our location would be dry.

While it wasn't exactly dry, it was only falling lightly, and they were there! This couple was up for it. I love how she didn't wince at the drizzle and didn't worry what it might do to her hair (I totally would have). In the end we did end up opening umbrellas because the rain had picked up, but luckily we had already finished.

I can't wait to see these two in a month at their wedding. Lets hope the rain stays away for their outdoor ceremony!

This little lady will soon be having her 2nd birthday. She is as sweet as they come. We met up at a small little park and had fun walking through the grass, dancing, climbing trees (she has no fear, and great balance), and trying to get the view through my lens to mirror the view in her world.

Exploring, Chasing, and Candy

Sometimes my subjects present me with a bit of a challenge. I love challenges, they keep life interesting.

This session my challenges were two brothers. B, a fun 4 year old who had my heart when I pulled into their driveway. Before I was even out of my car he peaked his head out of the front door and exclaimed, "It's Jennifer!" like I was the most exciting part of his day.

Then there was M, a 2 year old with striking features. Seriously gorgeous eyes, beautiful hair and antsy legs - he really doesn't like to be in one place for long.

So match my 2 challenges with an awesome new location (to them and me) with cool buildings, bridges, tunnels, and doorways and you have 2 little boys ready to explore, not sit for pictures. So they explored, Mom, Dad and I chased, and we were armed with treats. In the end we rewarded them with candy. As much as their little hands could hold, and when you see their eyes, you'll know why - you just can't say no.

Their mommy is a good friend of mine, and I know she left the session wanting to throw up her hands because there would be nothing good come of it. I hope this preview changes her mind. (And I'm warning you now, this is a bit of a long one.)

These last two are actually the same picture. Just done differently. I'm torn between the two because I love them both for different reasons. The first one is way over exposed which shows a bit of the detail of the family and the coloring - and well, I just really like it. The second being all in black and white and completely silhouette creates a different effect, totally cool. It would definitely be a print for my house because I like it so much and I think I know which one I would pick but I could not share just one.

Oh Brother!

While in Dallas I got to take my brother's family on a shoot. They just relocated to the Dallas area and we are so excited to have them closer so we can visit more often. They are such a fun family.

Fabulous Five

I met up with an awesome family on my first night in Dallas. I have known them since before the parents were married, but it had been a long time since we had seen each other. There might be another preview for this family in a few days since I have not even touched the family shots yet, but I knew the mom was anxious to see some, so I thought I'd give her a peak of her precious kids.

She requested black and whites, which I love, but I couldn't resist showing them in just a bit of color too.

First up, J. He is the oldest of the group. He wasn't too sure that having your picture taken was cool, but when I pulled him out for his individual shots he was nothing but cool.

Next is, T. His smile is just infectious! I loved talking to him. He was so courteous and polite.

A, is the only girl of the bunch. And boy, is she beautiful! She also knows how to work a camera. I could not take a bad picture of her.

Then there is little sweet C. Oh, C! Please, oh, please fall in love with my little girl. He is just too cute and too sweet. They MUST be married. (He even held my hand as we walked through the fields.)

Last, but not least there was baby Z. He was so expressive, and it was so easy to get him to look at the camera. Big blue eyes, can sit on his own, crawls but was still content to sit...basically he was a dream.

I had so much fun. Yes, I got bitten to death by Texas Chiggers, but it was oh, so worth it!

Back From the Big D

I spent the weekend doing shoots in Dallas. 5 in 4 days and no computer with me to begin editing. So I'm up to my eyeballs in pictures. Tonight I just downloaded them and am beginning to dig my way through. There are so many that jumped out at me, but I am sharing the one I've been dying to get my hands on since I took it.

Like a Weed

Kids grow like weeds. I always tell mine to stop. Recently it has rained here like crazy, so much so that the side of my house, which is mostly dirt has turned into a swampy mess filled with huge weeds. Its so soggy out there and its rained so much it never gets the chance to dry enough for us to get back there and clean it up.Good thing its hidden from the front view of the house.

You should have seen her face when I asked her to stand in the mud and weeds. Her feet were sinking the entire time, we had to pull out the hose for our feet when we were done.

Oh, the things we do for a good picture.

*This picture was taken when she was laughing about a huge frog we saw in our swamp. She thought it was funny until he jumped too close. Then our session was over.

A Little Business

Now that I'm all caught up on editing for once (well, almost) I have a little business to attend to.

Second, school starting today is a reminder to me that fall is on its way. Fall is the perfect time for pictures, couples, families, kiddos, you name it. Oh Boy!

While getting ready for this shoot I realized that most of my shoots have been with little girls. I love little girls, but today I was excited to get to be with 3 adventurous, fun little boys. I had the best time...especially on the bear hunt after our pictures.

To Mommy: Could you make them any cuter? Seriously, I had the hardest time choosing a preview for you. They were all so cute, and so sweet.

This is "M". While taking his picture I told him he was so cute. He quickly corrected me by saying, "I'm not cute. I'm cool." Yes, you are.

This is "J". He didn't warm up to me so quickly. He was unsure about my big camera is his space. So to try to make friends I asked if he had a girlfriend (is it okay to ask a 2.5 year old that?) to which he replied shyly, "Yes." I asked him who it was and his reply melted my heart, he said, "My girlfriend is my Mommy." I think hers melted too.

This is "H". While taking his picture he stood up completely on his own. (Don't worry mom, I got that picture too.) I am not sure if he'd done that before or not, but his mom and I were pretty excited.

Taking pictures of these 3 brothers made me think of my own 4 brothers. I thought of how my brothers, now all grown men with families, are close friends. I am willing to bet these 3 will be too.

After a morning of playing for my camera their feet were a little dirty. (I bet this isn't the first time their mommy has seen 3 pairs of dirty feet.)

Timeless

I've been editing tonight. I am still working on the wedding. Hopefully no one is tired of seeing pictures of this wedding. I just have one more I want to share, and then we'll move on to other projects. I am personally having so much fun working on this wedding, but I want to get them done so the bride and groom (and their families) can enjoy them as much as I have been. (Soon, guys, soon!)

This image is a little different than others I have posted. I edited it into a vintage look, and it seemed so appropriate for a bride and groom just starting their life together. A vintage photo to me is a timeless memory, just as I believe a marriage is timeless.

I love this image. I love it in the vintage look. It reminds me of a saying I have heard,
"Take my hand and walk with me. The best is yet to be."

The Party

Pure Joy

Friday night I met up with this sweet couple again, however, now they were Mr. and Mrs. The joy in their faces was so apparent. It was beautiful to witness. It was the kind of joy that you want to hold in your heart forever, but also the kind makes you want to climb to the highest mountain and tell the world what just happened all at the same time. The best part was that it was not just the bride and groom that were bursting with this joy. It was their parents, their siblings, and their friends. Everyone there who knew and loved them and who had just shared in their special ceremony glowed with this joy.

Congratulations you two, I wish you many years of pure joy.

This is the spire of the temple. When I was waiting outside for the bride and groom to come out I noticed the sun setting over the spire and thought it was beautiful, so I decided to take a few pictures of it as a gift to the bride and groom. I thought they might appreciate a picture of the temple taken while they were being married inside.

These flower girls could not have been any cuter. They were darling here, but wait until you see them all dressed up for the big party. I could not get enough of them.

I loved this mom. This was her first son to get married (first of 4) and she was beaming with pride, love, and yes - joy.

There is more to come. You still have to see the party. I am hoping to post some favorites from that tonight or tomorrow.

Hitched

I spent yesterday morning with them doing a bit of downtown roaming.

It was alot of fun. These two are so in love! They couldn't keep their eyes off eachother, or their lips. I just tried to fade into the background and capture the emotions.

Luckily my weekend with them is not over. So neither are the blog posts. It may take a few days, but come back for pictures of the main event.

I love brides. They are so happy and beautiful, plus they love to talk about their "beloved." Carrie was no different. So fun, so happy, and completely gorgeous.

I love Carrie's story. I love to listen to her talk about it. I also love the red sash on her dress.

I typically would not be posting bridals pre-wedding, however, the groom has already seen her. Infact, the bride's mother was texting him pictures during the shoot. He was sending messages back, I think they might have embarassed Carrie!

Near the end of our session Carrie's mom had an idea. I'm so glad she did. From her idea we got this:

A LOOK BEHIND THE LENS

My name is Jennifer Craiker. I have many titles in life, but the ones I TREASURE most are wife, mother and photographer. I have always loved the art of photography, although it was not until I became a mother that I began to take the camera into my own hands.

I found I wanted so much to be able to freeze moments in the lives of my children so that I could have them to TREASURE forever. Photography actually enables me to do that. It is not always the perfect smile or pose that I strive to capture but the moments. The moments that, unless made tangible, will quickly be forgotten.

It has been a blessing in my life to use my photography skills to help others make their moments a tangible TREASURE as well. Whether it be a couple sharing their first marital kiss, a 2 year old exploring the world, or a family interacting I feel privileged to have a part in it.

Do you see the party her mom brought? She figured little miss 'H' would love a picnic in the park complete with snacks and balloons. Miss 'H', however, had other plans. So, we walked. But finally Grandpa won her over with snacks. He was so cute with her.

Bridal Training

One of the greatest assets (in my opinion) about photography in general is, you can never learn it all. There is always something else to try, a new trend emerging, or another aspect to pursue. It never gets boring.

As a part of my never ending training I was fortunate to attend a bridal portrait training class this weekend. I learned a lot both from what the instructor said, and from watching other photographers work.

Here are a few shots from my camera that day:

**edited (7/2/09): I found out tonight that the bride in my original pictures had not been married yet. I thought that they had told us both our models were already married. However, since she has not yet been married I am removing her pictures from this site on the off chance her groom might stumble upon them. I am replacing them with pictures I just finished editing of the other bride.

Summer

This family told me they had never had their portraits taken any other time than at Christmas time. I think they will agree that despite the heat, summer time makes for some beautiful pictures. We were even fortunate enough to have a breeze to help cool us off the entire shoot.

Once again, I was blessed to meet a wonderful family. The girls made me smile, and the mom and dad seemed more like my good friends than people I had just met.
